—* Based in North-West LA
—* Caters for students aged 10-22yrs with moderate to severe learning, emotional and behavioural difficulties.
* 9 classes from Years 5 -12
*Dubnoff School also runs two licensed residential facilities for boys who require 24 hour care
*Teacher student ratio is approximately 1:3 in most classes.
Major behaviour issues - ADD, ADHD, Oppositional Defiance, Emotional disorders
Interactive Whiteboards at Dubnoff
* 9 IWBs – one in each classroom
* IWB used in junior classes to focus student’s attention, keep them motivated and focussed on the learning task. It is also used as a tool to prompt recall and teacher modelling
*Junior class teacher stated that the visual imagery in clips from You Tube and Google images were great ways to motivate the students and keep them interested in their class novel
*IWB images helped them to understand the content and provided another dimension to their learning.
*IWB technology is used to ‘supplement’ traditional teaching and texts NOT replace them.
*High school classes made use of interactive maps, notebook flip charts, DVDs and educational games.
*Blue tooth mouth requested to allow students to interact from desks
